Morning Focus – Thursday 14th March 2019

On today’s Morning Focus we had Dr Michael Harty on the National Cancer Strategy, Clare Haven on training to prevent domestic violence plus parenting advice and Paddy’s Day parades. Catch up below:

Firstly on the show, following the National Cancer Strategy failing to reach almost every target in 2018, we spoke to Ind TD for Clare Dr Michael Harty about the under-funding of the plan. Dr Harty, who is also Chair of the Joint Oireachtas Health Committee, discussed how the strategy has been branded ‘truly shocking’ by cancer charities.

Then, Gavin spoke about the demands for the Garda Commissioner to fund a training trip to Minnesota for cutting down on domestic violence in Clare. County Clare would be the first county in Ireland to attend the training with hopes that the Blueprint Safety plan would then be picked up across the country. Hear from key players in the Blueprint Safety plan in St Paul, Minnesota as well as Christie, who believes she is alive today because of it. We also spoke to Madeline McAleer from Clare Haven.
