On Thursday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with PJ Linnane, a former Kilkee Councillor

He has concerns about an asbestos situation at a landfill site adjacent to Lislanaghan Lake in Kilkee
According to a statement from Clare County Council Lislanaghan Lake is not a drinking water source
In June 2013 a quantity of waste asbestos-cement watermains were incorrectly put by the Council into a pre-existing stockpile of inert waste beside the lake
And they have employed a specialist environmental consultant to recommend actions to be taken regarding this sitation

‘A Week in Summer’ is a short story by the late Maeve Binchy, written specially for the Merriman Summer School as part of bi-centenary celebrations in 2005

Maeve had attended the Merriman summer school regularly over the years, since 1968 and as part of events in August 2005, not only did she write a specially commissioned new story, she also read " A week in Summer" to those gathered for the summer school at the Spa Wells Centre in Lisdoonvarna

With thanks to the organising Committee of the Merriman Summer School, we shared the story with listeners this morning.
