Morning Focus Thursday, February 28th 2019

Morning Focus today was jam-packed with everything from parenting advice with Dr Toby to hospital over-crowding with Mary Lou McDonald. We also had Sinéad Perez in talking about demonstrating at the Dáil for her son, Jordan, to have access to vital treatment. In case you missed out on the this morning’s show, here is a rundown with some of the best bits to listen back to.

First up, Gavin Grace spoke with Sinéad Perez about leading a demonstration at the Dáil today. Perez explained that she was going to demonstrate for access to medical treatment for her son Jordan, who is eleven years old and has Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Mary Lou McDonald was on Morning Focus talking about the crisis of overcrowding in hospitals, particularly at UHL, whose trolley numbers rose to seventy this week.

Next on the show, psychologist and eating disorder specialist Fierna Kennedy joined us live in studio to talk about how younger children are being treated for conditions such as bulimia and anorexia.

Afterwards, we covered news that the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland has lost patience with the government, who promised a plan to reform the Irish radio sector three years ago. Clare TD Timmy Dooley tabled a motion on independent radio, which was debated this morning.
