Brian is the father of baby Michael whose life was saved by two Limerick based Gardai last week
Baby Michael is doing well and came home from hospital on Monday evening – today he is exactly 4 weeks old
Garda Niamh Kennelly, who is originally from Ennis, and Garda Paul Baynham responded to the emergency call which saw Paul come to the aid of baby Michael who was suffering breathing difficulties on the N18 in Clare on the verge of Limerick City
He took the child to his patrol car, and placed him on his lap to open his airway, and though the child encountered more difficulties en route to University Hospital Limerick, medics there were able to assist him and he is now said to be doing well
Brian thanked the Gardai, the hospital staff, his family,friends and neighbours for their help and support during a very stressful time.
There are calls to make Ireland more friendly towards breast-feeding
The National Women’s Council is urging shops, restaurants and other public spaces to put up signs which welcome new mums to feed their babies
The rate of breast-feeding here stands at just 56 percent, compared to a UK rate of over 80 percent

From tomorrow the maximum height for any vehicle on Irish roads – including HGV’s will be 4.65 metres
This will cause huge issues for road hauliers as Eoin Gavin of Irish Road Hauliers Association voiced their concerns to Marian.
ICSA has called on the Road Safety Authority to urgently reverse the decision to reduce maximum vehicle heights to 4.65m
Under these new restrictions, the vast majority of lorries transporting fodder will have their loads significantly cut; only two rows of 4×4 round bales will be legal on lorries, while large square bales, typically three feet high, will only be legal when loaded three high on most trailer

The Irish Farmers Association is recommending that pre-nuptial agreements be given recognition under Irish law
As it stands such agreements are not officially recognised in Ireland but they are legal
The organisation says there is fear within the farming community over the change in social structures in Ireland and the level of family break ups
