Micky Mac, Broadcaster, joined us on the line to help us pay tribute to him and his work.

To kick off Morning Focus today, we spoke to Dr Michael Kelleher, Lahinch GP and IMO GP Committee Member as the Irish Medical Organisation is warning that GP services across the country are at breaking point.

They say that without extra resources it’s not viable to bring in free GP care for children under the age of 13.

The IMO also says that the policy is electioneering by the Government.

Next on the show, we returned to our series on addiction, as part of this, we’ve been speaking with staff members at Bushypark Treatment Centre in Ennis where one clear thing is emerging – addiction doesn’t discriminate and can hit anyone, regardless of their circumstances.

Today, we delved a bit deeper to look at how addiction impacts on the lives of both those living with it and their families – as well as how addicts are treated once they arrive at Busypark.

Treatment Team Leader Gerry Murphy has been speaking with Clare FM’s James Mulhall firstly on a quite broad question – what is addiction?

If you or anyone you love is suffering from addiction, Bushypark can be contacted confidentially on 065 684 0944.

After our news headlines, we were joined in studio by Tommy Corbett of Carey Corbett Financial Services to talk about how we can save money by switching providers.

You can listen back to our Financial Advice slow below:

Next on the show, we spoke to Cllr Cillian Murphy, Kilrush LEA Cllr & Proprietor of Murphy Blacks Restaurant following his decision last night to close the doors of the restaurant.

Murphy Blacks has been in business for more than fifteen years, but last night informed its social media followers that it had “become too much” for them to continue in business.

The proprietors, Cillian Murphy and Mary Redmond say the pin the blame on a number of factors but that the decision to increase the hospitality VAT rate from 9% to 13.5% was the fatal blow.

If you missed our interview, you can catch it below:

Next, Historian and Irish Times Columnist Ronan McGreevy joined us on the line to respond to the Mayors decision to not attend the RIC Commemoration.

We spoke to Cllr Cathal Crowe yesterday on the programme about his decision to decline an invitation to attend an RIC commemoration in Dublin next week.

Cllr Crowe says it is “revisionism gone mad” and also says that the history of the RIC with Clare County Council during the War of Independence means attending in an official capacity would be to show the “upmost disrespect” to preceding Clare Councillors.

If you missed it you can listen back here:

To wrap up today’s show Clare County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote joined us in studio for an Animal Welfare Update.
