The Liam McCarthy Cup is set for a tour of Clare in the coming days and weeks, after the All Ireland Hurling Trophy returned to the Banner for the first time in 16 years
 
Members of the team, and manager Davy Fitzgerald have thanked the county’s fans for the support, after tens of thousands greeted them on their arrival home from Dublin in Ennis, Cratloe, Sixmilebridge, Newmarket and Clarecastle yesterday
On behalf of the Clare County Board Malty wishes to talk the teams and management for the magnificent good they have done for Clare hurling
He wishes to thank all of those involved in making this possible

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with former All Ireland Clare Hurling Manager Ger Loughnane to discuss the team’s performance and success

Michael McDonagh, Chairman of the Clare County Board, spoke with John about the tremendous achievement of the team and thanked many people fundamental to their success.

Aineis Brock of Carrigoran House, Newmarket on Fergus and Valerie Vaughan, Manager of the Day and Education Centre, joined John in studio
They are holding a fundraising event in the Day and Education Centre this Thursday when Celia Holman Lee will host a Fashion Show – they are hoping people will come along and support them 

The Clare hurlers visited Carrigoran on their way to Ennis on Sunday evening
Aineis said it was emotional especially for some of the elderly priests who would have had a connection with  St. Flannan’s
The Day and Education Centre at Carrigoran House is to support seniors to live in their own homes within  our local catchment area of Shannon, Sixmilebridge, Cratloe, Newmarket on Fergus
They had been planning and fundraising for this project over a number of years and received no capital funding from government – it opened earlier this year.

The Clare hurling team will take to the field again on Wednesday evening for the ‘GOAL Challenge’ charity match, which will take place at Sixmilebridge GAA Grounds (throw-in 7.30pm)
€5 admission and free for under 16s
Goal Midwest Representative Maura Lennon joined John with the details – they are collecting for their work in war-torn Syria.
