The West Clare Coastal Community of Quilty is in mourning today following the loss of two local fishermen whose bodies were recovered near Spanish Point yesterday after extensive searches
On yesterday’s show we heard about the hopes and prayers of the local community and the families of Michael Galvin and Noel Dickinson who had been due to return to Quilty on the Lady Eileen Trawler the previous evening, but sadly, did not return
Everybody’s worst fears were realised shortly after 12 o’clock however, when two bodies were found near Spanish Point  at Breaffa South and large crowds then gathered at Seafield Pier in Quilty as the bodies were brought to land.
As the remains of the two men were removed followed by their loved ones, many lingered in the area talking of the shock and sadness in the local community and how they remembered both Michael Galvin and Noel Dickinson so fondly
John Cooke was there and spoke with Robert Johnson, Quilty – cousin of the late Michael Galvin; Kevin Sexton, Quilty; Tim Donnellan, Mullagh; Pat McCarthy, Kilmurry Ibrickane area and Fr Pat Larkin – parish priest of Kilmurry Ibrickane
