Irish Water has signed a new contract with Ward and Burke Construction for 3.7 million euro Watermains Rehabilitation Works. The project involves the replacing of approximately 17 kilometers of water mains in Ennis town and surrounding areas. The works also include the replacement of 95 backyard and 978 front of house service connections. The areas taken in by the works which will be carried out in conjunction with Clare County Council are the Clarecastle Claureen Roundabout, Lahinch Road and Kilrush Road. We heard from Councillor Johnny Flynn, Mayor of Ennis as he expressed his delight with the news for Ennis and Irish Water Information Officer Aisling Buckley outlined the plans.
Tuesday, Labour TD Anne Ferris was kicked out of the Parliamentary Party for opposing the government and voting for a bill by Independent TD Clare Daly. Labour backbenchers had been briefed earlier in the day on advice from the Attorney General that Deputy Daly's Bill was unconstitutional.
Deputy Michael McNamara says he will now put forward a Bill of his own to allow for abortion in the case of fatal foetal abnormality. Deputy McNamara spoke to John about his future plans.
'One Day More' Spokesperson Liz Mc Dermot spoke to John about their support group, which is made up of parents who received poor pre-natal prognoses for their babies and their views on the abortion debate in the wake of Clare Daly’s Bill on Fatal Foetal Abnormalities.
Shannon native, Lorraine Fanneran of “More Than A Boob” blog and fundraiser Siobhan Purcell joined John in studio to talk about Lorraine's battle through breast cancer and Siobhan's upcoming fundraising event in aid of Breast Cancer Research. The Launch of the Climb of Croagh Patirck took place on Tuesday last and the number of people registering is growing and growing. This Engineers Week titled “Engineering is for Everyone” is hitting County Clare this week with a number of events happening.
