‘Market Day’ is the name given to the new sculpture, part of the Ennis Sculpture Trail Initiative that is being erected in the Market in Ennis and depicts a market scene of a cow, farmer and another farmer with his dog.
The work was commissioned by the Ennis Sculpture Initiatve in association with Ennis Town Council
Ennis Town Clerk Leonnard Cleary and Noel Crowley of the Ennis Sculpture Initiative joined Marian in studio and she was joined by the sculptor Barry Wrafter on the line.

A full separation of Shannon Airport from the other state airports is among the options recommended in a new report on it’s future operation and ownership
The Transport Minister will publish the document later today, but a copy obtained by Clare FM has shown that it calls for significant change at Shannon, as well providing stark warnings if this does not occur

New CSO retail sales figures highlighted a pretty dismal start to the year for Irish retailers and suggested many consumers had made purchases in November and December to avoid the January VAT hike
The Retail Sales Index showed that seasonally adjusted retail sales, excluding cars, fell by 1.6% compared to December 2011
Retail Ireland said that if this trend continues the government must look again at the decision to increase VAT
Stephen Lynam, Director of Retail Ireland explained the findings of report and discussed the reprecussions.  

Caring for Carers in Clare are holding a fundraising dance and social event in aid of carers this Friday in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis – they are hoping that to fill the house and people are welcome to buy tickets on the door
PJ Murrihy & Band will provide the entertainment – Susan Hogan, Development Officer with Caring for Carers, Clare and Breda White, their secretary and a carer herself joined Marian to speak about the work and ask people to come along and support them. The event begins at 10pm and ends at 1am.

St Joseph’s Secondary School, Spanish Point’s 2nd year Geography class has arranged for Representatives, from Mali and Sweden to visit the school and give a talk on their countries on population and development
It is on their curriculum to compare Ireland to developing countries and more developed countries – the class are working on projects examining factors that impact on population such as water; war; famine etc.
Darragh Moloney and Deirdre Barry, 2nd year students encouraged people to come along to the school on Friday at 9.30am.
