Natural History has been made in East Clare, with the first White Tailed Eagle chicks born in Ireland in over 100 years have successfully hatched in Mountshannon

On Wednesday’s Morning Focus Marian Egan spoke with Dr Alan Mee, reintroduction project manager with the Golden Eagle Trust about the major coupe for the Golden Eagle Trust
Last April they were delighted that two white tailed eagles were breeding in East Clare – unfortunately the chicks didn’t survive – Dr Mee expressed their delight that two eaglets have hatched in Clare and one other in Killarney.

Denis Minogue of Mountshannon Eagles group expressed the local community’s delighted and thanked everyone for their support.

Clare Deputies Pat Breen of Fine Gael and Timmy Dooley of Fianna Fail joined Marian to discuss the government’s new Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill.

Irish Postmasters have said the Government must wake up to the threat to Post Offices in Co. Clare
They held their Annual Conference at thTom O’Callaghan
Kildysart native Tom O’Callaghan is the union’s representative in Clare, Limerick, Kerry and Kilmallock
He joined Marian that the future of hundreds of Post Offices nationally, and a number in Co. Clare, were in the balance due to the fact that the social welfare payments contract is being internationally tendered.

We took a look at more Famine Commemoration events taking place in Kilrush and the surrounding areas this week

Paddy Waldron and Paul O’Brien of the Kilrush and District Historical Society will be giving guided famine walking tours later this afternoon, and on Thursday they’ll give a bus tour of famine related sites in Kilrush Poor Law Union
These will be taking place throughout the day from the Market Square, Kilrush

She is calling on the providers of social housing, to provide a number of "homeless" houses with supervision tor whose who find it difficult to survive and maintain themselves in our society as it exists today

Homelessness has increased by 7 per cent according to Focus Ireland, which helped more than 8 thousand people who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in 2012

Alzheimer’s Society Clare branch members Rhonda Murphy and Marie Moloney joined Marian in studio ahead of the society’s fundraising Tea Day
They encouraged people to orgainse their own Tea Day to raise funds for the society and explained what’s involved

The Burren Painting Centre in Lisdoonvarna is celebrating its 40th anniversary
Since the Spring of 1974 thousands of eager artists have passed through the doors of the Burren Painting Centre, in Lisdoonvarna
Many have become famous in their own right, others have sought further knowledge and art skills, returning year after year to this artistic haven in North Clare
The lure of The Burren is for some their prime motivator, for others the opportunity of making new friendships as Chris O’Neill explained.
