On The Afternoon Show today, Michael Culloty, the National Development Officer for Social Policy and Communications with MABS – the Money Advice and Budgeting Service, joined Máire Moynahan. People in difficulty with personal debt or at risk of getting into debt resulting from income and expenditure changes brought about by Budget 2013 need to be fully aware of their primary responsibility to first provide for the basic living expenses for themselves and their families” says MABS, the national Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS). Anyone who is concerned about their situation or their capacity to make ends meet can get immediate assistance by calling the MABS Helpline 0761 07 2000, Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm.  Those who need one-to-one support to deal with their debts can make an appointment to see a Money Adviser. You can use the MABS website www.mabs.ie to develop a budget for you and your household. The citizensinformation.ie website will also provide the latest Budget Summary information.  The contact number for MABS Ennis, which is located on Harmony Row is 0761 07 2430.

Paul Kealy is a Child Car Seat Installation Expert.  He spoke to the show as calls are being made for retailers who sell child car seats to ensure that they’re installed properly. It’s after new research from the Road Safety Authority found that three out of four parents have their children’s car seats installed incorrectly. 77% of child fatalities in collisions between 1996 and 2000 were caused by a lack or a misuse of a child car seat. The RSA’s ‘Check it Fits’ Road show will be in Lidl on the Gort Road, Ennis on Sunday from 12 noon to 6pm to help parents safely fasten child seats into cars. Free advice will also be given out on the day to ensure that the correct choice is made when buying a car seat for a child.
