On today’s edition of The Afternoon Show Clare FM’s Máire Moynahan spoke with Kevin Cullen, journalist with the Boston Globe about Monday’s atrocity in the city. Police and the FBI have raided a number of homes in Boston in the hunt for those responsible for the explosions at the Boston Marathon. Three people – including an 8 year old boy – were killed and over 170 were injured in the blasts. There have been no immediate claims of responsibility

Bernard Purcell, Editor of the Irish World Newspaper in London also spoke to Máire about the biggest news stories in the UK and what’s having an impact on the Irish community across the pond.  In particular he discussed the funeral of Margaret Thatcher, which takes place on Wednesday amid heightened security and the London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday.

Josephine Roche is the Treasurer of the 14th Scout group – Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry while Noel Keany is the Chair of the Scout Development Committee.  Both joined Máire in studio to discuss how the group has recently acquired the lease of the railway house in Sixmilebridge for use as a scout den.  A major fundraising drive will aim to secure funds for its renovation and development.  The Castlewood Players will come to the GAA Hall in the Bridge tomorrow night for a special performance of Jimmy Keary’s Hilarious 3 Act Comedy – Too Close to Home. There are currently about 90 kids between 6 and 16 years old in the scout group and 20 volunteer leaders.  The group has been in existence for over 30 consecutive years.
