The Afternoon Show – Tuesday February 5th 2013

Joining Gavin on The Afternoon Show today was Ennis Councillor Mary Howard and TJ Waters, both members of the Ennis Phoenix Twinning Board. Ennis Phoenix Twinning events are being held around Clare’s County town this St. Patrick’s Day.  Saint Mary’s Catholic High School Band from Phoenix, Arizona has accepted an invitation to play in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ennis this year, but are seeking listeners’ help in transporting large instruments, or securing alternatives.

Also joining Gavin was Dr. Sarah O’Doherty, a Clinical Psychologist and Agony Aunt with Kiss Magazine. On the back of the government’s action plan on bullying a government public awareness campaign called Safer Internet Day takes place today – it aims to tackle cyber bullying. It’s part of a global drive to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. Dr Sarah has experience of dealing with young people and addressing issues associated with cyber bullying and is equipped to offer advice and tips- including parents who may be worried about their child experiencing cyber bullying. Meanwhile Clare FM’s Kiara Gannon met with you on the street to ask if you feel your kids are safe from harm when online, what age children should be allowed to go online, or indeed if children should be allowed online in any circumstance?
