Welcome to The Today Show Blog!

On today’s show representatives of the four local charities benefiting from Clare FM’s 50 Cent Appeal were live in studio with Gavin Grace.  Each charity received a cheque for €4,800 following weeks of fundraising across the county.  In studio was Fiacre Hensey of Clarecare, Denise Dunne from Clare Haven Services, Denis Carty of the Clare branch of St. Vincent de Paul and Mary Moloney of Cahercalla Hospice. Countless individuals, groups, schools and businesses got involved in the charity drive by hosting their own 50 Cent Events across the county to help raise much needed funds for the beneficiaries.

Grace Cummins from Corofin – the Co. Clare Rose for 2011 / 2012 spoke with Clare FM’s Gavin Grace about the life-changing experiences she’s had since being crowned Rose of Clare. Grace was speaking ahead of the 2012 Rose of Tralee Festival about what will entice young women across the county to enter. Stylist Tess Purcell was live in studio to talk about how important the role of fashion is in your life – whether you realise it or not! Tess is a qualified style coach, accomplished fashion stylist and personal shopper.  Following intensive training in the beauty and cosmetic business with Dior and indeed having completed various styling courses, Tess now specialises in helping both women and men around the country, make the most of their wardrobes, as well as styling various fashion shows and editorial shoots. Eddie Punch, General Secretary of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association discussed his organisation’s reaction to the renewed threat of cuts to farming schemes.
The ICSA say the ongoing uncertainty and possibility of further attacks on schemes, which have already been cut, such as the Disadvantaged Area Scheme, REPS and the Agri-Environment Options Scheme (AEOS), is doing untold damage to the confidence of the one sector that is consistently growing exports.
