Mella Malone of Mella’s Driving School in Ennis discussed today’s hot topic – that women are better at parking than men! However Mella, who’s a driving instructor and former driving tester isn’t so sure.  It follows a survey carried out by UK group NCP who asked driving experts to covertly watch people attempting to park. The study looked at aspects of parking including technique, accuracy and time taken, and found women generally scored higher than men.  The discussion received a lot of reaction – mainly from female drivers across Clare!

Also on today’s show Gavin spoke to John McSweeney who is Project Manager with the Small Business Advice Programme.  John explained how small business owners and managers can receive advice through the service, which is free and confidential. The programme aims to give struggling small businesses the help they need to ride out the recession through partnering them with volunteer advisors. Clare FM Reporter Dermot Hogan investigated the issue of GAA Managers and whether or not they should be paid.  Dermot spoke with Sports Journalist Fintan O’Toole of the Irish Examiner and gauged the public appetite for payments to club and county managers.  He also presented the opinions of former Clare hurler Niall Gilligan and Dublin Manager Anthony Daly.
