The Today Show – Wednesday June 6th

Comedian Des Bishop was the star of the show today, as he joined Gavin ahead of a gig in Ennis this weekend.  Des revealed that his latest show, Des Bishop Likes To Bang, is a departure in style from his previous efforts, but that he was enjoying it very much.  He also revealed hopes of more television series, though details are still hush hush!

As the Leaving and Junior Cert exams get underway, Gavin spoke with Collette Ryan of HeadsUp, Rehab’s mental health promotion project, to give tips for families and students so that they get through this difficult time.  Collette recommended daily breaks, such as going for a walk, or bath, or whatever works, while Gavin felt that parents and siblings should make tea and biscuits for those who are studying.  Further information on HeadsUp is available at www.headsup.ie.

Wednesday’s show also saw the revealing of a staggering success here in the county, with the announcement of the final sum raised in the 3rd Annual Pakie Ryan Memorial Run, which was held in Newmarket-on-Fergus in March.  Those who took part raised almost €38,000 which will now be split equally to the Milford Care Centre, Mid West Rape Crisis Centre and the Clare Crusaders.  Organiser Paul Tuohy also announced March 23rd, 2013 as the date for the next staging of the event, so get training, and fund-raising ASAP.  A big well done to all involved from everyone at Clare FM.
