8,500 euro Stolen in Kilkee Bank Raid

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to an armed bank robbery in Kilkee in which over 8,000 euro was stolen.

Two armed raiders entered the Bank of Ireland on O’Currey Street in Kilkee at around 2.15 this afternoon brandishing a sawn off shotgun and a knife.

It’s understood that staff were threatened but not hurt, before the two raiders escaped with cash worth 8,500 euro, some of which was in sterling.

The raiders were of average build – one wore a green jacket, possibly with a Rugby World cup logo, white gloves and a silver helmet – the other wore a grey rain jacket and black gloves.

The culprits made their getaway on a high powered motorbike and Gardai in Kilkee and Kilrush are appealing for information from the public.

Gardai have set up an incident room at Kilrush Garda Station for anyone with information on this afternoon’s bank robbery in Kilkee -The number is 065 9080559
