Over 1.6 million people in Ireland now have just 100 euro to spare at the end of each month.
Its on of the main findings of a new survey by The Irish League of Credit Unions.
Motoring costs continue to be a huge burden for most people – with 45 per cent struggling with their car finances, and seven per cent admitting they plan to give up owning a car altogether.

Two thirds said they have postponed servicing or repairing their car because they cannot afford it.
The figures also show that 28 per cent of people said they cannot afford to pay the 100 euro household charge.
