Over 1,000 more workers across Clare have signed up for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment since the country moved to level five restrictions.
They’re among more than half a million people across the country, who are now receiving state employment supports.
6,563 people in Clare have received the Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week, a jump of 1,070 since level five restrictions came into force.
It represents a 19% rise in figures here in Clare in just a week.
They’re among almost 52,000 people across the country who are now relying on the state support, following the Government’s decision to move to the highest level on the Living With Covid roadmap.
Just 29 people in Clare closed their claim and returned to work over the past seven days.
Meanwhile, 1,417 people have now been certified for Enhanced Illness Benefit in Clare since the onset of the pandemic, a rise of 71 from Tuesday last week.
