11 Clare awards at BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Clare schools have scooped 11 awards at the 51st BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

Mary Immaculate Secondary School Lisdoonvarna accounted for 7 of these awards, with Stephen O'Connells project titled "Follow me into a lobster pot – Lobster preferences when entering a lobster pot" being awarded first place in the Senior Individual Biological and Ecological Sciences category.

Jessica Kelly and Deirdre O'Connell, also from Lisdoonvarna were awarded second place in their categories.

Students from the school also received three Highly Commended awards 

There were third place finishes for students from St John Bosco Community College and Scoil Mhuire, with highly commended honours going to students from Rice College and Meánscoil Na Mbráithre.

Cork students Ian O’Sullivan and Eimear Murphy from Kanturk took the overall title last night for their alcohol-related project.

The event closes today in the RDS, with record attendences expected
