Over 18 thousand operations were cancelled at Irish hospitals last year including over 120 at Ennis General.
The figures released to Fine Gael are a ten percent increase on 2008.
At Clare’s County Hospital 109 planned day cases were put off in 2009 along with a further 18 inpatient planned surgeries.

In a statement the HSE says over 1.2 million elective procedures were carried out at the 52 acute hospitals nationwide that that any postponement is regrettable and the HSE and the hospital does all it can to minimise the impact on patients
