15 hundred flock to reopened Ennis Friary.

The re-opening of the Old Friary in Ennis has received a positive response from tourists with well over 15 hundred people taking a tour of the 13th century ruins since last week.

Minister Brian Hayes has also encouraged locals to avail of free admission to the historic site for the remainder of the tourist season.

Supervisor Mary Kearns says the old Ennis Friary was once home to up to 300 Franciscan Friars, and also served as a centre of learning for scholars.
