A survey from the Bank of Ireland ranks Clare as the tenth most popular county for start-up businesses.
313 new enterprises were formed in the Banner County in 2009.
Nationwide, there was a 9% fall in the number of start-up businesses – a smaller percentage than had been expected.

The drop was even smaller here in Clare, where the figure was down by just 10 on that of 2008.
The most popular sectors for start-up businesses were the services, finance and construction sectors.
