334 Planes Carrying Weapons Allowed To Land At Shannon In 2017

New figures show that over 300 planes carrying weapons landed in Shannon Airport last year.

Civil air-crafts are prohibited from carrying weapons and munitions of war in Irish airspace and on board any Irish registered aircraft, unless the Minister for Transport grants an exemption.

Minister Shane Ross has revealed that his Department received 340 applications for exemptions for flights seeking to land in Shannon last year – 334 were granted and 6 were refused.
