The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital has risen sharply today.
The latest figures from the INMO show 46 patients were waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 30 of those in the Emergency Department.
The overall figure is 18 more than the next busiest facility, and comes on a day when 159 people were waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
