More Than 60 Cases Of COVID In Clare In Past Fortnight

More than 60 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clare in the past fortnight.

It comes as Public Health Midwest continues to warn people to be vigilant about the spread of the virus after a spike there in the last two weeks.

Fewer than five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in this county in each of the four days from last Thursday to Sunday, with no new cases confirmed at all in Clare last Wednesday.

This county is at an average of just over four cases per day in the past fortnight, with around 38 cases confirmed in the week prior.

That’s in stark contrast to our Midwest neighbours in Limerick, who’ve seen 680 confirmed cases there between May 16th and May 30th – an average of around 48 per day.

It’s prompted fresh warnings from public health officials here around what they say is ‘high risk indoor activity’, including house parties and family gatherings and events.

Public Health Midwest also say they’re aware of some children ‘attending school while infectious with mild symptoms’.

It’s understood one primary school in county Clare has reported a small number of positive cases in recent days.

Members of the public in Clare who have symptoms, concerns, or have been exposed to high-risk social settings are being encouraged to avail of the self-referral walk-in clinic in Ballymalley Business Park in Ennis, which is open between 12 noon and 6.40pm.
