61 On Trolleys At Region’s Main Hospital Today

Nurses say there’s been a sharp rise in the level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest trolley watch analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, shows 61 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

40 of those were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, while a further 21 were being accommodated in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is 16 more than the next busiest facility.
