72 Patients Left Waiting On Trolleys At UHL Today

Nurses say 72 patients were left waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest INMO figures show 54 people were on trolleys in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick this morning, with a further 18 accommodated in overflow areas of wards.

It’s the highest level of overcrowding in the country, with the overall figure 18 more than the next busiest hospital.

It comes in the wake of a new report from the INMO, which shows that over 1000 patients were left waiting on trolleys there throughout the month of March and follows the closure of a temporary 17-bed short stay unit there last week.
