Abuse Survivor Criticises Compensation Scheme

An abuse survivor is criticising a compensation scheme which requires victims to have made a prior complaint to the school.

Each person is entitled to up to 84 thousand euro, but survivors only qualify where it is shown that the school authorities failed to take action on a complaint of abuse.

Louise O'Keeffe – who was abused by a teacher in a west Cork primary school in the 1970s – says this isn't realistic.
