Aer Arann Pilots to Strike

Aer Lingus Regional passengers from Shannon may be facing disruption to their travel plans from next week.

Aer Arann pilots – who operate the service under the banner of the former national carrier have balloted in favour of industrial action, in a row with management over pay.

The Pilots at  Aer Arann have told the company they’re walking off the job next Tuesday and Wednesday, and again on the 24th and 25th of this month.

The row – over a pay freeze – is expected to affect Aer Lingus regional services, however IMPACT members say they are open to talks.

If the strike goes ahead it will affect thousands of passengers at Shannon Cork and Dublin Airports – as Aer Arann operates the Aer Lingus Regional Service – which runs daily flights from Shannon to Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham

In a statement to Clare FM, Aer Arann says pilots pay will be reviewed once the airline returns to profitability, possibly by next year and has described the decision to ballot for strike action as regrettable, particularly as it comes at the busiest time of the travel season.
