Aer Lingus Ballot Outcome Expected Today

The holiday and travel plans of thousands of people could be affected if Aer Lingus Cabin Crew in Shannon, Dublin and Cork vote to commence industrial action.

Cabin crew at Shannon and other airports are considering industrial action in a row over working hours as the company continues to implement its controversial 97 million euro cost saving plan

IMPACT announced the ballot last month over new rosters to increase their working time to 850 hours a year.

While cabin crew had agreed to new rosters to increase working time the union says management has changed aspects of their contracts.

Aer Lingus has described as the ballot by staff as ‘deeply regrettable’ as any withdrawal of labour could disrupt the summer holiday plans of thousands of passengers.

The outcome of the ballot will be known after 4 o’clock this afternoon though it’s understood that any industrial action is unlikely to take place for at least a fortnight.
