Aer Lingus is considering shifting transatlantic services away from Shannon Airport.
The Irish Times reports that the former flag carrier may move two Airbus aircraft from Shannon to bases in the UK – they are normally used to fly to New York and Boston, but are currently grounded as a result of COVID-19 regulations
The loss of Aer Lingus transatlantic services would represent another significant blow for Shannon Airport, and the local tourism and business sectors, on a year in which global aviation has been effectively grounded.
Aer Lingus has declined to comment on the matter when contacted by Clare FM.
