Details of hundreds of job cuts at Aer Lingus are expected to be revealed in the coming days, raising fears for staff at Shannon.
On Friday the board of the former national carrier reportedly approved a radical cost cutting plan which would see over 500 jobs lost and the remaining staff facing a ten percent pay cut.
In August Aer Lingus had warned that major changes were needed after it reported losses of 93m in the first half of the year, the worst six-month performance in its history.
Moves to cut Shannon transatlantic services were thwarted by government before the summer but its feared this may not happen again
Details of Aer Lingus’ cost cutting plan, which aims to save 130 million euro are expected to be announced in the next day or two.
