The average price of an acre of farm land in Clare has exceeded the €7,000 for the first time in five years.
Figures compiled by the Irish Farmers Journal show that the average price fetched at auction in 2019 was €7,589 per acre, based on 30 transactions recorded.
It’s slightly back on the national figure of €8,971, but it marks a strong performance for the county despite an uncertain year in the farming sector with beef protests dominating the headlines.
