The head of the Shannon Airport Authority is expected to face tough questions on the future of the airport when he meets with regional representatives in Ennis today.
Brian O’Connell is due to address a meeting of the Mid-Western Regional Authority, following numerous calls for him to publicly state the airport authority’s plans to make up for a worrying loss of business, and criticism of his low profile to date.
It’s understood the Shannon Airport Authority is working on a development plan for the airport ahead of the temporary withdrawal of Aer Lingus transatlantic services and more Ryanair routes next month as passenger charges increase.
But there’s still no news of badly needed new flights, and Clare representatives on the MWRA, Gerry Flynn is hoping for clarity on the situation today
