Hundreds are expected to gather in Glór this evening to mark the 1st anniversary of Muhammad Ali’s visit to Ennis.
Former world champion Barry McGuigan along with award winning broadcaster Bob " the Colonel" Sheridan will be the guest speakers for the event being hosted by Ennis Town Council.
The evening’s entertainment will also include a screening of a half an hour video of Ali’s visit to Clare County Town last September
A number of events have also been organised for Saturday as part of a community day.
Meanwhile local residents in the Turnpike – will be hosting a tree planting ceremony this afternoon to mark Muhammad Ali’s ancestral links.
Mayor of Ennis, Councillor Tommy Brennan will do the honours and former world feather weight champion Barry McGuigan will attend the event which takes place at 4pm this afternoon.
Bella Hehir of the Turnpike Residents Association says everyone is welcome to help mark the occasion.
