Hopes are high across the region that Liam McCarthy will be brought home this weekend for the first time since 1997 with huge celebrations planned on Sunday for both the senior hurling panel and the U21’s at the Fair Green in Ennis.

Mayor of Clare Joe Arkins is confident of a Clare win and he is wishing the panel the best.

As Clare Fans take the road to "Croker" once more, they’re being warned to leave plenty of time for journeys, particularly due to road works on the Ennis to Limerick Road.

Traffic delays have been reported en route to Dublin. Gardai in Gort say there has been a long tailback of match-traffic near St. Thomas’ GAA pitch as a result of roadworks. Gardai were at the scene directing traffic, but are advising motorists to travel to Oranmore and take the motorway from there.

There has also been a crash this morning on the M7 on the Clare side of Portlaoise, with delays reported there, while roadworks on the N18 at Bunratty mean traffic there is reduced to one lane on both sides.
