137 applications were made in Clare last year, concerning care orders for children.
Statistics publised by the Child Care Law Reporting Project has found significant differences between different towns, with the figure for Ennis District Court significantly less than the likes of Mallow and Letterkenny.

The figures also show that 13 care orders here were reviewed, out of over 800 nationwide.
Over half of the national total was in Cork, and Director of the Child Care Law Reporting Project Dr Carol Coulter says this feature of the Cork system has pushed up the area's total.
