Nearly 600 marriages were carried out in Clare last year, according to new figures released by the CSO.
The same statistics also show the strong likelihood that Banner brides and grooms are likely to find their partner from within the county
589 marriage ceremonies were carried out in Clare last year.
However, with a total of 439 Clare grooms and 440 Clare brides getting hitched, the figures suggest that Clare remains popular as a desination for marriages.
Yet, while people seem to come here to get married, seven out of eight brides and grooms from Clare married someone who was also from the county.
79% of the marriages in Clare were Catholic, while a total of 53 divorcees got married once more.
On the other side of the scale, there were also 65 divorces granted in the courts in Ennis last year.
The CSO figures also show that a total of 91 same-sex marriages were conducted in Ireland last year, but there is no county-by-county breakdown of this total.
