There’s been severe criticism of the Government’s decision to close the Clare Lodge which houses asylum seekers in the county.
The Reception and Integration Agency, which is responsible for services for asylum seekers and refugees, sent a letter to the staff of the centre informing them of the move which is to be implemented by the end of the month.
There is 10 staff working in the Lodge along with over 40 male residents.
Orla Ni Fheili, from the Clare Immigrant Support Centre says that it’s a particularly difficult situation for the residents as some of them have been in Ennis for three years and have built up a life and relationships in the town.
