An anti-litter business group is calling on local authorities to get tough on companies that break litter laws.
It follows the publication of a survey which shows Irish supermarkets fall far short of European norms for cleanliness.

In Clare, Lidl in Shannon was found to be clean to European norms.
Over a quarter of supermarkets were found to be seriously littered, while overall, supermarkets were found to be twice as likely to be littered as other sites.
