An anti-war group claims the result of a new poll indicating the majority of Irish people oppose the US Army's use of Shannon Airport comes as no surprise.
Initial results from the Red C survey show that 6 in 10 people oppose the airport's military use while 57% of people questioned believe the Constitution should be changed to ensure Ireland's neutrality is enshrined in it.
The results have been made available by Independent TDs Mick Wallace and Clare Daly, who were found guilty of illegal entry to the airport last year.
Ed Horgan from Shannon Watch says Enda Kenny should have raised the issue with the US President during his St. Patrick's Day visit and he's surprised Irish neutrality wasn't discussed more during the general election campaign.
