Apology Issued Over Handling of Blake’s Corner in Ennistymon

Clare County Council has apologised for what's been described as an "embarrassing fiasco" caused by it's handling of proposals regarding Blakes Corrner in Ennistymon.

The Council's CEO Tom Coughlan has privately delivered an apology to the families who's homes and businesses could face demolition if a new bridge aimed at alleviating traffic problems goes ahead.

The actions of Council staff have been condemned as "callous, threatening and a serious breach of trust" after it emerged that an estate agent was sent to discuss the buy out of homes and businesses in Ennistymon without the knowledge of local representatives or the families concerned.

West Clare Councillors also received an apology, but Fianna Fail's Richard Nagle says assurances are needed that such a debacle is never repeated.
