Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the attempted abduction of a girl in her early teens in Co. Offaly last week.

The girl was cycling at Moyclare in Ferbane at about 8.30 pm on Tuesday last week – when a white ‘car-type’ van pulled up beside her.
The driver struck up a conversation with the girl before trying to drag her into the vehicle – but she managed to escape.
Gardaí investigating the incident have this morning arrested a man – in his forties – in Tramore, Co. Waterford.
