As Shannon passengers fall further- Airport Board drastically reduced.

Passenger numbers at Shannon Airport took another dive again last year with new figures showing a 7 percent drop – the largest decline in the DAA group.

It comes as the Transport Minister has delayed the release of a report into the future of the Mid West Airport while the Board of Shannon Airport has now been slashed to just two people, with former Chairman Brian O Connell among the 7 members who no longer have an input.

Separate figures from the Irish Aviation Authority last week did  recorded an increase in flights at Shannon last year, but the figures on passenger numbers outline a continuing decrease in people using the airport.

Despite the drop and the delay in the release of the Booz Report Shannon Senator Tony Mulcahy insists the government is taking the right course of action.
