Average Wages In Clare Below National Standard

The typical Clare resident is earning over 3,000 euro less than the national average.

New CSO figures unsurprisingly show that incomes are strongest in Dublin, but that there has been growth here.

These figures, newly published this week, cover 2014 and show that the typical disposable income available to a person in Clare that year was 17,201 euro.

The term disposable income refers to a person’s income plus social welfare payments but with taxes and social insurance contributions taken away.

Here, that gew by nearly 400 euro per person from the previous year, but was still back by 4,500 euro on 2008, showing the impact of the economic crash here.

While the CSO stresses that the figures are estimates, they do show how the Banner County fares when compared with other areas.

Disposable incomes are typically 3,200 euro more per year in Limerick, and nearly 4,800 more in Dublin.

The gap between Dublin and other regions, incidentally, increased in 2014.

The disposable income figure for Clare is higher than only seven other counties, all of which are located in the Border, Midland and Western Regions.
