Shannon’s Loss Of Norwegian Air Flights “Bad News” For Midwest Region

Norwegian Air’s decision to pull out of Shannon Airport permanently is being labelled as bad news for the entire Midwest region.

The budget airline hasn’t flown from the Midwest facility for several months now, due to the global grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft and previously confirmed there would be no more flights from Shannon this summer.

But now the airline has confirmed that it is pulling all of its transatlantic flights from Irish airports from next month.

Independent Shannon area Councillor PJ Ryan says the financial loss of these routes cannot be understated:

In a statement, Shannon Airport has expressed disappointment and thanked Norwegian for their commitment to the Airport over the past three years.

The statement says the routes delivered strong passenger numbers and say this will support their case as they look to secure a replacement.
