Award-Winning Professor Say Rural Practise In Clare Can Be Saved

An award-winning professor says rural practice can be saved, but only if supports are put in place for GPs working here.

Kilkee native Professor Bill Shannon has been presented with ta Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Irish Medicine during his career.

He has played a major role in the development of GP training in the South of Ireland before moving to Dublin where he became the first professor of General Practise in the 26 counties.

Professor Shannon says rural practice could wither slowly if its not protected.
