Ballynacally Mother Insists More Services Should Be Provided At Ennis Hospital

A Ballynacally mother who was unable to get treatment for her 18-month-daughter at Ennis General Hospital following a fall insists more services need to be provided there.

Caroline O'Donoghue attended the hospital with her daughter Millie, who had suffered a gash to her head, however a nurse told the family that children under 5 couldn't be treated there and that they could go to University Hospital Limerick or wait for Shannondoc.

UL Hospitals Group say that, like other Local Injury Units around the country, the facility in Ennis only provides services to people aged 5 and over and a publicity campaign has been undertaken to make the public aware of this.

However, Caroline claims that providing an expanded range of treatments ther would take the pressure of other medical facilities in the region.
