A young Barefield man jailed for the manslaughter of a 14 year old boy in Ennis is expected to appeal his conviction next month.
20 year old John McGovern of Ballyduff, Barefield was sentenced to six years in prison in March of last year after he was found guilty of the manslaughter of settled traveller Michael Doherty.
The 14 year old from Ashline, Ennis died from stab wounds following an altercation outside Supermacs on O’Connell Street in Ennis in June 2007.

The case is due before the three judge court of Criminal Appeal in Dublin on June 22nd.
